After a strikeout, Josh Dykhoff (Soph. Wadena) hit a frozen rope that was no more than 15 feet off the ground, and it went over the right field fence for a two-run home run for a 2-1 lead. Cole Hebl (Fresh. Hillsboro) reached on an error and scored on another error when Senn reached. Danny Wensloff (Sr. Roseau) followed with a double to score two runs, and UMC led 5-1.

FIFTH INNING
Duluth was retired in 1-2-3 fashion, with the third out coming on an outstanding Superman diving catch by Golden Eagle shortstop Mitch Goodwin (Sr. Prior Lake). As UMC has done all season long, they were able to put a two-out rally together. Heble reached on a fielder’s choice, Senn reached on a strikeout and wild pitch, and Danny Wensloff walked to load the bases. Kodi Miller (Jr. Grand Rapids) blasted a shot over the right field fence for a grand slam, and the Golden Eagles led 9-1.

The next batter doubled to score to more to bring the Bulldogs within a 9-5 deficit. Ethan Cole doubled to score another run. Troy Lynch singled to score a run before Gustafson hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 9-9. UMC made a pitching change, and Max Weber (Jr. St. Paul) came in and retired the first two batters he faced. The next batter doubled, but Weber got a ground out and the Bulldogs were finally retired with the game tied at 9-9.
Crookston responded in the bottom of the inning with a Satrom double. After an out, Giefer singled to score Satrom for a 10-9 lead.
