The University of Minnesota Crookston men’s golf team dropped a spot in the final round of the NSIC Men’s Golf Championships and finished 8th place out of 10 teams at the par 71 Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri.
UMC shot a 311 in the third and final round of the tournament for a three-round total of 928.
Connor Humble (Sr., Rosemount) led the Golden Eagles with rounds of 75, 77, and 76 for a three day total of 228, good for 17th place individually. Cade Pederson (Fresh, West Fargo, N.D.) finished 23rd individually with an 80, 73, and 77 for a 230. Pederson had the best single round with his second day 73 for the Golden Eagles. Brian Bekkala (Sr., Livonia, Mich.) finished 28th individually with a 232 (76, 76, 80), Keegan Poppenberg (Soph, Esko) finished in a tie for 39th place with a 239 (81, 79, 79), and Dillon Sannes (Sr., Fertile) finished in 49th place while shooting a 257 (86, 86, 85).
Winona State University shot five strokes better than Bemidji in the third round to win the championship with an 883, edging Bemidji State by one stroke. The individual medalist was Bemidji State’s Chris Swenson with a 210.
