UNITED WAY OF CROOKSTON KICKS OFF ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

The United Way of Crookston kicked off their annual campaign to raise funds for the agency grants throughout the community.  The goal is to raise at least $160,000 again this year.  Last year the United Way beat their goal by 14 percent which equates to an additional $21,000 available to the various agencies serving the Crookston area.

United Way Executive Director Lori Wagner said that on Tuesday, board members and other community leaders picked up packets that will be delivered to local business.  “On Tuesday all of our leaders were here that will hand out our packets to all the business,” said Wagner.  “They are the bright yellow packets filled with all I say – filled with love. They are our heart and soul of what we do here.  Our leaders are all of our board members plus other community members so businesses will be receiving their packets real soon.”

Wagner also thanked several businesses and individuals who were involved with getting this year’s Campaign Thermometer up outside American Federal Bank. “Our thermometer went up at American Federal (Wednesday),” said Wagner.  “I’d like to thank Otter Tail Power Company. They put some Plexi [glass] up over the thermometer.  We have magnets to go on there to tell us where we are as far as percentage-wise [to their goal].  And I’d like to thank Kustom Kollision and Paul Wagner for getting us six feet of various lengths of the bright red magnets.  Last year all of our magnets seemed to disappear let’s say, so this year with the plexiglass on there they hopefully won’t disappear or blow away.  Dan Erdman is the person at American Federal who puts up all the magnets, so I’d like to thank him again for doing that for us year after year.”
