KROX and Bergan Travel sponsored a “Take a Trip on Us” contest. When people shopped at twenty-six participating businesses, they entered their name in the drawing. KROX called each one of the participating businesses and that business drew one name from their box. That person then qualified for the final drawing that was held after the noontime news on February 21. Wayne Wagner of Crookston, who registered at Napa Crookston Welding and Machine, was the lucky winner of a $2,000 travel gift certificate from Bergan Travel of Thief River Falls to be used for their vacation packages or bus tours. Participating businesses were: Ampride Convenience Mart/Crookston Fuel Company, Anytime Fitness, Christian Brothers Ford, Crookston Building and Rent-it Center, Crookston Eagles, Crookston Hardware Hank, Draft’s Sports Bar, and Grill, Eagle Thrifty White Pharmacy, Edward Jones-Dusty Buse, HN Quality Plumbing, Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor, Hugo’s, Napa/Crookston Welding and Machine, Opticare, Snap Fitness, Taco John’s, They also registered at One N’ Only in Euclid, Christian Motors in Fertile, Grand Forks Subaru-Kia and Signature Jewelers in Grand Forks, Mireault’s Home Furnishings in Fosston, Ness Café in Erskine, Dakota Heritage Bank in Red Lake Falls, Hunter’s Outlet and Purdy’s Shoes in Thief River Falls, and PKM Electric in Warren.
