Wilfred (Bill) Denver Reynolds – OBIT

Wilfred (Bill) Denver Reynolds, longtime Crookston resident, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community in Crookston, Minnesota.

Bill was born in Ironwood, Michigan January 29, 1927, to Dorothy (Hoch) Kelley. They moved back to Crookston shortly thereafter to be with family. Bill was friendly, outgoing, and gregarious. He learned to fish and to hunt with his grandfather. During high school, he met Joyce An Reppien. Upon graduation Bill joined the Navy. During his service he was certified as a medic.

Upon discharge Bill returned to Crookston and married his sweetheart Joyce. They had two boys, Charles (Corky) and Christopher. Bill worked several jobs before signing at American Crystal Sugar. After 43 years Bill retired as Master Mechanic.

He was active in many service organizations—Masons, Shriners, (Clown parade unit), BPOE Elks (Minnesota Youth Camp), and Crookston Triad. He was a charter member of the Crookston Police Reserve. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bill and Joyce traveled to many conventions.

In 1990, Bill became State President of the Minnesota State Elks, one of three Crookston men to hold that position. Following that term of office he became chair of National Elks Americanism committee.

Upon retirement, Bill and Joyce became “Snow Birds” wintering in Mesa, Arizona. Bill could finally golf year round.

Bill is survived by sons, Charles (Christine) and Christopher (Mary), grandchildren Paige (Josh) Lutterman, Colin (Lauren) and Shane (Sarena Amiot) Reynolds, and Leagha, Jill, and Katy Reynolds and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and his granddaughter Meredith Reynolds.

A private service will be held at a future date. Blessed be the memory of Bill.
