Yvonne T. Hanson, 87, of Crookston, MN, entered her Heavenly home Friday, June 30, 2023, surrounded by family at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Yvonne was born on July 4, 1935, in Crookston, MN, to Lawrence and Thelma (Bruun) Grove. She grew up and attended school near Climax, MN, graduating with the class of 1953. After High School, Yvonne moved to Pullman, WA to work at Washington State University. Shortly after, she moved back to the Crookston area, where she met the love of her life, Wayne Hanson. On June 7, 1963, Wayne and Yvonne were united in marriage.
Yvonne enjoyed a long successful career working with the University of Minnesota Crookston, retiring on July 1, 2000. She and Wayne enjoyed traveling, spending summers at the lake, and visiting family and friends. Sadly, Wayne passed away in May of 2011.
Yvonne is lovingly survived by her beloved stepson: Jeffery Hanson, of Truth or Consequences, NM. Sister-in-law Patty (Ty) Spies of Watertown, SD, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her husband, Wayne Hanson, Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Thelma Grove, parents-in-law, Harry and Anna Hanson; stepson Terry Hanson, brother, Lyle (Ardis) Grove, sisters, Mildred (Donald) Delp and Arlene (Irving) Haugen, brothers-in-law: Leroy (Rosemond) Hanson, Warren (Ella) Hanson.
A Memorial Service honoring Yvonne’slife will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, MN. Visitation with Yvonne’s family will be for one hour prior to the service. A family graveside service will follow at the Sandhill Lutheran Cemetery in rural Climax, MN. www.stenshoelhouske.com
