ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Jaden Lubarski

The KROX athlete of the week is Jaden Lubarski, a senior on the Crookston Pirate Boys Track Team.  The senior cut seven seconds off his 800-meter time from the first meet to the second meet of the year and won the 800-meter race at Monday’s Pine to Prairie track meet at Concordia-Moorhead.  Jaden ran a time of 2:10.51, which was 10 seconds better than his first 800-meter race this season.  Jaden was also on the fourth-place 4×800 relay team on Monday.  “He has had a very good start to the season and cutting 10 seconds in the 800 and that has been nice, especially since he has decided he is going to work hard on that race this year,” said Coach Wayne Folkers. “He gives us great leadership and helps the younger kids.  He is an all-around leader and if I ask him to do something he does it.”
Jaden has been competing on the varsity track team since seventh grade and competed in the state track meet as part of the 4×800 relay team his freshman year.  Jaden has competed in the 100 and 300 hurdles, 400 meters and the high jump.  This year he will be focusing on the 800 and 4×800 relay races and will compete in some other events throughout the year.
Jaden is a three-sport athlete and played basketball in the winter and he was a member of the varsity team since his freshman year.  He received all-conference honorable mention as a junior.
Jaden was a member of the Pirate Football team in the fall.  He played varsity since his freshman year and played the defensive back and wide receiver positions.  He was named honorable mention all-conference.
Jaden is also a member of the Leo Club, honor roll and is a lifeguard at the Crookston Community pool and he is a waiter at RBJ’s.
