#16 UM-DULUTH USES CROOKSTON ERRORS TO CRUISE TO A VICTORY

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles Volleyball was swept by the #16 ranked University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-18) in a Northern Sun Conference match played at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth.  UMD was ranked in the top 10 before they lost both of their matches this past weekend. 

SET ONE –
UMD jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the match while taking advantage of three Crookston errors.  UMC battled back to get within an 8-6 deficit before Duluth went on a 6-1 run to take a 14-7 lead.  Duluth continued to pull away and built a 20-10 lead while scoring four points on UMC errors.  The teams played even the rest of the way and Duluth won the set 25-16.  

SET TWO –
Duluth started the second set with back-to-back kills from Kate berg before UMC answered with a kill apiece from Bailey Schaefer and Mara Weisensel to tie the set at 2-2.  Duluth was leading 4-3 when they went on an 8-1 run with five of the points coming off UMC errors.  Duluth had a 16-9 lead when they finished the set on a 9-0 run getting five points off UMC errors to win the set 25-9. 

SET THREE
Duluth started the set on a 3-1 run behind two kills and a service ace.  UMC battled back to tie the match at 3, 4, 9, 11, and 14.  Once again Duluth went on a big run, this time it was a 6-0 run to take a 20-14 lead.  The run started with a UMC service error, but this time Duluth added four kills and an ace in the run.  The teams played even the rest of the set and Duluth won 25-18 to win the match 3-0.

UMC is 0-3 in the NSIC and 1-7 overall and will host Wayne State on Friday.  UMD improves to 1-2 in the NSIC and 8-3 overall.
