#2 RANKED RED LAKE FALLS NO-HITS CROOKSTON SOFTBALL

The Red Lake Falls Eagles are ranked #2 in the state in Class A and showed the Crookston Pirate Softball team why Tuesday afternoon as Eagle pitcher Kylie Klipping threw a no-hitter while striking out 11 of the 13 batters she faced on the way to a 15-0 victory in four innings in Red Lake Falls.

FIRST INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts to start the game. Red Lake Falls got things going on the first pitch of the bottom of the inning when Shandi Nelson blasted a fly ball to deep left field for a double. After two outs, the Eagles’ Ava Seeger walked and Kali Knutson reached on an infield single that scored two runs for a 2-0 lead.

SECOND INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion as the Eagles’ pitcher, Kylie Klipping, struck out all three batters for the second straight inning.
Red Lake Falls’ lead-off batter reached on a walk but was retired at second base. Amelia Warne, Miley Cota, and Nelson all singled with a run scoring on a wild pitch. Quinlynn Kenfield singled to score two runs for a 5-0 lead. Another run scored on a wild pitch, and another run scored on an error for a 7-0 lead.

THIRD INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3, with all three batters striking out for the third time in the game. Red Lake Falls really broke the game open in the bottom of the inning as Warne was hit by a pitch with one out. Chloe Knaack, Nelson, and Shindler singled with a run scoring on Nelson’s hit. Kenfield followed with a bases-clearing double to score three more runs. Another run scored on a wild pitch. Crookston made a pitching change, and the next two batters, Ava Seeger and Knutson walked. Klipping helped her cause with a single to score three runs for a 15-0 lead.

FOURTH INNING
Crookston needed to score at least one run to keep the game going. Dani Kresl became the first baserunner with a walk to ruin the perfect game. The next three batters were retired, and Red Lake Falls won the game 15-0 after the 15-run rule.

Crookston drops to 0-4 on the year and will host Roseau for a doubleheader on Thursday. Red Lake Falls improves to 10-0 on the year and will take on Ada-Borup-West on Thursday and East Polk on Friday for two big Section 8A games.
