3rd Annual Ride the Wind for Wendy is August 25

The third annual Ride the Wind for Wendy will be held on Saturday, August 25 with 108 miles of motorcycle riding in the area.  Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at I.C. Muggs in Crookston and the ride begins at 10:00 a.m. rain or shine.  “The ride came about after my mother passed away in 2015 in a motorcycle accident and my dad made it through.  A couple months later, around March I took a trip to Australia and while I was on a plane for 16 hours and was thinking about the one year anniversary,” said Dylan Reitmeier, one of the event organizers. “I like to ride, my dad loves it and my mom always wanted to go and begged my dad to take her out for a ride. We put some ideas together and my dad and I figured we could make it into a fundraiser.  The first year we did well.”
Stops along the away include the following – The One N’ Only in Euclid, Mick’s Bar and Grill in Warren, Lightning Bar in Alvarado, Oldham Saloon in Manvel (ND), Bun Lounge in Grand Forks with the final stop at the Snow Sled Inn in Gentilly for the start of the bike show sponsored by Northriders MC.  “We will have the Crookston Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office helping get us out on the road,” said Reitmeier. “We will end it at Gentilly at the bike show that anyone wants to enter a bike in.  We want to have people going to both events so I planned everything to make it work for people to both the ride and the bike show.”
If you don’t have a motorcycle, but would like to participate in the ride, you can follow on four wheels. “We have had plenty of cars that follow along on the ride,” said Reitmeier. “We welcome anybody that wants to join in on the fun and it is really cool to be in a car and see the long line of bikes stretching down the highway.”
Donations and proceeds will be donated to the Polk County Sheriff’s Project Life Saver Program (www.projectlifesaver.org).
You can find out more about the Ride the Wind for Wendy on Facebook, go to www.Facebook.com and search Ride the Wind for Wendy.  Donations can be dropped off at Bremer Bank in Crookston.
