5 PIRATES ADVANCE TO SECTION 8A INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS NEXT WEEK

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team won the Section 8A Team Championship yesterday, and they have six girls competing in the Section 8A INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT at the Fargo Courts Plus Wednesday afternoon.   Crookston is advancing five of the six individuals to the semi-finals on October 19.  The results are below –

SINGLES
#5 seed Brekken Tull (Sophomore) beat #12 Amanda Berscheit (Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) 6-0, 6-0.   Brekken beat Libby Hartman (Wadena-Deer Creek) 6-7, 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.  Tull will now play Lauren Rutten of Staples-Motley in the semi-finals.

#7 seed Hannah Lindemoen (Senior) beat #10 Zoe Johnson (Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) 7-5, 6-2.  Hannah played well but lost to the #2 seed Abby Morris (Park Rapids) 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and was eliminated.

DOUBLES –
#1 seed Hayden Winjum (Senior) and Halle Winjum (Sophomore) received a first-round bye and beat Emily Schulz and Morgan Koppelman of Park Rapids 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.  The Winjums will now play Macy Goochey and Micky Clark of Park Rapids in the semi-finals.
#2 seed Emma Osborn (Senior) and Emma Gunderson (Sophomore) received a first-round bye and beat Jessie Danielson and Erin Brandt of Roseau 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Osborn and Gunderson will play Corra Endres and Anna Fiemeyer of Wadena-Deer Creek in the semi-finals.
