Welcome to another Sports Feever column. It is still a slow time for sports, but things will pick up next week with the American Legion baseball tournament starting up next weekend.
I hope you had a great Independence Day weekend. I stayed active and did some waterskiing, jogged a few miles, swam about three-quarters of the way across the lake and then halfway across the lake, golfed nine holes, ate, and had some frosty cool beverages. Most importantly all my siblings and parents were together, all my kids were able to make it and the most important thing….we got along all weekend. So it was a great weekend.
Enjoy this weeks column.

If you have been driving through Crookston this month you have probably seen Crookston High School teacher and Boys Hockey Coach Josh Hardy running. Coach Hardy is raising money for one of the best entities I can think of, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
I asked Coach Hardy for more information on his running and his response is below –
Hey Chris!
With the birth of our third little bundle of joy back in April, I’ve been super busy parenting (who would’ve thought 3 boys 4 and under would be a ton of work?!) and I haven’t been taking enough consistent time to work out and as such, the Dad Bod (or father figure as my wife so kindly puts it) has gotten a bit out of hand. If I got a pair of white New Balances and a pair of jean shorts I’d fit the bill all too well!
So to motivate myself to really get back after it (and prepare for the Grand Forks 10 Miler in August) I’m taking on the 100 Mile Run Challenge for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
Basically what that entails is that I commit to run 100 miles in the month of July and I’m collecting donations that go directly to St. Jude. I’m so thankful and lucky that our boys have never had any medical issues but many aren’t so fortunate and the work that they do at St. Jude in regards to increasing the survival rate of children diagnosed with cancer is really incredible. And that they do it all without charging families makes it even better. I’ve already raised almost $2000 to help their cause and would love to continue to see that number grow over this month!
I just wrapped up week 1 and logged 28.8 miles so I have 71.2 miles to go! The accountability by putting this out there in the public has been a pretty good motivator to get up and get on the road!
If anyone wants to donate, or just follow along with my progress, you can do so in two ways!
You can head to my fundraiser page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/donate/1163754374141996/

JOKES
My doctor asked if anyone in my family suffered from mental illness. I said, “No, we all seem to enjoy it.
Camping: where you spend a small fortune to live like a homeless person.
I won’t say I’m worn out, but I don’t get near the curb on trash day.
People who wonder if the glass is half empty or half full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
Sometimes it takes me all day to get nothing done.
My wife says I have two faults. I don’t listen and…something else.
Never laugh at your spouse’s choices. You are one of them.
“dammit I’m mad” is “dammit I’m mad” spelled backward.
I’d grow my own food if only I could find bacon seeds.
Losing weight doesn’t seem to be working for me, so from now on I’m going to concentrate on getting taller.
Common sense is not a gift. It’s a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn’t have it.

I still haven’t hit a hole in one — but I did hit a guy, and that’s way more satisfying. You’re supposed to yell Fore, but I was too busy mumbling “no way thats gonna hit him”.
