9TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT POLK COUNTY MUSEUM’S HAFSLO CHURCH SATURDAY

The 9th Annual Christmas Concert at Hafslo Church on the Polk County Museum grounds will be held Saturday, December 14 beginning with a Christmas Carols Sing-a-long at 7:30 p.m. and the University of Minnesota Crookston String Ensemble and Concert Choir at 8:00 p.m.

The concert is sponsored by the Polk County Historical Society (PCHS) and PCHS President Gerry Amiot said the society is very pleased to be holding the concert once again. “We are very pleased to be holding our 9th Annual Christmas Concert,” said Amiot.  “It looks like the weather will be cooperating.  We started doing these in 2011, shortly after the furnace was installed in the building.  This church that’s 132-years-old was moved to our grounds in 2006.”

The sing-a-long will be led by George French on the old organ from the Presbyterian Church in Crookston according to Amiot. “George French, the Music and Theatre Department Director at UMC, has been very faithful in bringing back not only his Concert Choir but that last two or three years UMC’s String Ensemble,” said Amiot.  “They are right up by the altar.  George of course usually leads us in the sing-a-long with Christmas Carols on the old organ in the church which came from our own Presbyterian Church here in Crookston.”

Admission is free with a free-will offering taken to support the UMC Choir.  Reception to follow in the Museum Auditorium with Christmas goodies and beverages.
