GRAND FORKS RESIDENT SUSTAINS MINOR INJURIES IN CRASH WITH TRAIN SUNDAY MORNING

The Grand Forks Police were dispatched to a Train/ Vehicle crash at Demers Ave. & 42nd St., around 10:56 a.m. on Sunday, January 12. The crash involved a 2012 Chevy Equinox driven by 87-year-old Grand Forks resident, Theresa Knutson. Knutson’s vehicle was pushed off the roadway and onto BNSF property, east of N 42nd St.

Knutson was transported to Altru Hospital for possible minor injuries. Knutson was cited for Failure to Obey Railroad Crossing.  The BNSF train was traveling east bound at approximately 10 MPH on the north set of tracks when it made contact with Knutson’s vehicle. There were no reported injuries or damages from BNSF staff.

The Grand Forks Police were assisted by the Grand Forks Fire Department, Altru paramedics and BNSF Staff.  If anyone has any additional information, please call the police department at (701) 787-8000.
