We had another week of sports and as most teams are at the halfway point of their season with a month, or less remaining in the regular season. Teams, for the most part, have been getting all their games in and COVID-19 numbers continue to drop slowly and that is good news.

The Crookston High School Hall of Fame is taking nominations until March 1, 2021.
The purpose of the Crookston High School Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor special achievement by individuals who have exemplified, developed, encouraged and fostered positive traits and attributes to enhance the stature of Crookston High School and School District #593’s extracurricular activities and their important role in developing life long skills.
Four categories have been established from which nominees will come from:
– Distinguished Crookston High School Alumni
– Faculty Staff and Administration
– Fine Arts
– Athletics
Membership is reserved for a candidate who has met the following qualifications:
-
Has graduated from Crookston High School ten (10) years prior to nomination and/or
-
Has served the School District in a capacity that considerable contributed to the well being of the district and it’s students and/or
-
Has demonstrated how contributions to and success in our society in chosen field reflects the quality and stature of the School District and/or
-
Has unselfishly supported the School District in ways that considerably contributed to the well being of the district and its students and staff.

We have received the Section 8AA and 8A Boys and Girls Basketball tournament dates. The dates are as of Wednesday, February 10. With everything in the last year, we know things can change, but the plans as of today are below. Remember the dates could possibly change and times are still to be determined (but plan on 7 p.m. as the universal start time for most games)
The SECTION 8AA BOYS BASKETBALL tournament will look like this in 2021.
Play-in games – Monday, March 15 ( #8 hosts #9 in both sub-sections)

The Minnesota Mr. Basketball committee has announced the watch list for the 2021 Mr. Basketball award. I think it is safe to say everybody is fighting to be a finalist as Chet Holmgren of Minnehaha Academy has to be the hands-down favorite. After all, he is the top-ranked player in the country, the second in as many years for Minnesota High School basketball (Paige Bueckers of Hopkins and now UCONN was the #1 ranked player last year).

JOKES
So I went to a Psychiatrist and told him:
“I’ve got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there’s somebody under it. I’m scared. I think I’m going crazy”
“Just put yourself in my hands for one year,” said the Psychiatrist.
“Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears.”
“How much do you charge?”
“One hundred fifty dollars per visit,” replied the Doctor.
“I’ll sleep on it,” I said.
Six months later the Doctor met me on the street.
“Why didn’t you come to see me about those fears you were having?” he asked.
“Well, $150 a visit, three times a week for a year, is $23,400.00. A bartender cured me for $10.00.
I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought a new pickup truck.”
“Is that so? With a bit of an attitude the Psychiatrist said, “and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?”
“He told me to cut the legs off the bed. Ain’t nobody under there now.”
