POLK COUNTY TO SWITCH EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEMS

Polk County has elected to change update their emergency and severe weather notification system explains dispatch supervisor Nancy Shafer. “Polk County is moving from CodeRED to Everbridge so we’re asking the public to re-register through Everbridge so they can continue getting those notifications.”  By opting into the Polk County Alerts emergency notification system, you ensure that you can be informed about issues and events that could affect your safety and the safety of your family.  If you were previously registered for emergency notifications through the CodeRED system, you will need to re-register to continue receiving notifications from the NEW Polk County Alerts system powered by Everbridge.  Polk County will no longer utilize the CodeRED system after December 31, 2018.
When you register to receive emergency notifications from Polk County, you have the ability to choose what types of alerts you want to get and the preferred methods of contact that you want to be used (such as a home or mobile phone, e-mail, or text messages).
Shafer explains how to register for the new alert system powered by Everbridge. “There are a couple different ways to sign-up, the link is on the Polk County website, our Facebook page and if you don’t have a computer you can call the Polk County Sheriff Office between 8:00 and 4:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday,” said Shafer. We’ll mail you a form and then you can return that to us and we will register your number in the alert system.
The phone number for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is 281-0431 or use the following link to opt-in to the Polk County Emergency Notification System:
