The Crookston Fire Department was called to a shop fire at 1:49 a.m. Friday morning in Section 6 of Andover Township (or about 6 miles west of Crookston). The fire was extinguished, and CFD cleared the scene.
Crookston Fire Chief Tim Froeber said one building was destroyed, and a second had extensive damage. “At 1:49 a.m., we got called out to 320th Ave SW south of Crookston in Andover Township Section for a report of a shop on fire,” said Froeber. “Upon arrival, we had a machine shop that was on fire. Fire was coming out the overhead doors and a little on the roofline. Attached to that was a woodshop that was totally involved in fire and pretty much on the ground by the time we got there. We initiated attack on the machine shed and were able to get that out. It has very extensive damage to the building and contents inside, heavy smoke damage, and water damage. It’s a typical machine shed, a 40 x 60 (foot) and had a tractor in it, all kinds of shop tools, and a service truck in there.”
The fire is currently under investigation. “It was called in by the people that live on-site and no injuries,” said Froeber. “It had been burning for quite a while by the time we got there. Like I say, one of the buildings was fully involved. We were able to extinguish that one, and we have the fire marshal out there as we speak doing an investigation on it.”
The Crookston Fire Department was assisted by the Fisher, Climax, and East Grand Forks Fire Departments, Crookston Ambulance, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
