CROOKSTON POLICE ARREST EAGAN MAN AT HOTEL

On Tuesday, July 24, at approximately 12:10 PM, the Crookston Police Department was dispatched to the Cobblestone Hotel at 2304 Sahlstrom Drive in Crookston on a report of an assault and possible discharge of a firearm. Also responding were Polk County Sheriff Deputies, the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force and Crookston Ambulance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the alleged victim; Martin Paul Rivera, age 42, of Eagan MN, and learned a firearm had not been discharged. Additionally, based on witness statements, officers very quickly began to identify inconsistencies in Rivera’s story. The building was secured and completely searched for the reported offenders; none were located. Officers were able to determine early in the incident there was no threat to public safety.
Rivera was treated medically at the scene for cuts to an arm he sustained while attempting to break a window. He was transported to RiverView Hospital. When he was medically cleared he was transported to the NWRCC and held there on initial charges of Driving While Impaired, Driving After Suspension and Damage to Property. The investigation is active.
