The Wastewater Treatment Plant in Grand Forks released an Update for what residents can do to help the plant do its part for containing the flood;
With the recent heavy rains and snowmelt, the Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeing a large increase of water. It is estimated that the plant will have 18 million gallons of water go through the plant today. On average the plant sees 8 to 9 million gallons of water a day.
The storm water system is infiltrating the sanitary system with this heavy rain and several sump pumps are running into the sanitary system.
The City asks residents to make sure your sump pumps are draining outside and that we limit water usage a little bit (running washing machines, dishwashers, etc.) to allow the Wastewater Treatment Plant to catch up with the high demand.
