The Red Lake River water levels continue to slowly rise which has created additional vulnerable locations. To assist with monitoring the river levees and with sandbagging efforts, the City of Crookston requested aid from the Minnesota National Guard. It is expected that approximately 50 National Guard personnel will be arriving later this evening.
Water levels have overcome the river levee in the 400 block of Riverside Avenue. Evacuation efforts in the affected areas of Riverside have occurred. Otter Tail Power company has disconnected power in the affected area, Great Plains Natural Gas has shut off gas service in the affected area. One house is surrounded by water. For safety reasons, we urge the public to refrain from that area and all vulnerable locations throughout the city.
