GRAND FORKS POLICE ARREST DRIVER AFTER CAR CHASE INTO EAST GRAND FORKS

On November 8, 2022, officers were originally dispatched to the Walmart parking lot on 32nd Av. So. On a report of a vehicle that had been driving on the sidewalk and then pulled into the parking lot. As officers were on the way to this call, additional information was given that a male subject inside of a vehicle was now at the 3000 block of Queens Ct. where he had threatened a victim that he was going to shoot her. The suspect then left the scene (the victim was uninjured) in the vehicle.

PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) told officers that the male suspect was now at the Cenex gas station at 1970 32nd Av. So. and had gone into the store and stolen some items. As officers were responding to Cenex, additional information was given that the suspect vehicle’s driver was now in the Hugo’s parking lot (1750 32nd Av. So) and was driving erratically. Officers arrived on the scene and located the suspect vehicle, which drove out of the parking lot by going over the grass and sidewalk and then proceeded eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on 32nd Av. So. traveling towards South Washington Street.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle on South Washington Street, but the driver refused to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle then crossed over into the southbound lanes of traffic while traveling northbound on South Washington St. The pursuit was terminated in the best interests of public safety.

A Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department deputy was on the north end of Grand Forks and observed the suspect vehicle turning off of North Washington Street and then proceeded east on Gateway Drive. The suspect vehicle then drove across the Kennedy Bridge into East Grand Forks, MN. The East Grand Forks Police Department was notified and located the car within minutes. The driver was now outside of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

The driver of the vehicle is identified as Kyle D. Tischler, age 28, unknown address. The vehicle he was driving was a 2005 Buick LeSabre.

Tischler was taken to Tri-County Corrections in Polk County, MN, where he is confined.

Criminal charges against Kyle Tischler are pending in Grand Forks County for:

  2. Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle
  3. Reckless Endangerment
  4. Terrorizing
  5. Criminal Mischief
