CROOKSTON ROTARY HONORS HALLE WINJUM AND EMMA GUNDERSON

The Crookston Rotary Club recently honored their September and October Students of the Month from Crookston High School. Halle Winjum was September, and Emma Gunderson was the October Crookston High School Student of the Month.

Halle Winjum –
Halle’s parents are Chris and Lean Winjum, and she has an older brother, Walker, an older sister, Hayden, and a younger brother, Reggie. She plays trumpet in the band and is involved in Leo Club, Student Council, and Youth Board. Halle is a captain in basketball and also plays tennis and track. She teaches Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran and enjoys playing the ukulele at home and church. She has helped out with Meals on Wheels and goes to the elementary school to help students with homework and reading. Halle babysits in the summer and works at Rhombus Pizza in Mentor and RBJs in Crookston. When she isn’t working or in school, Halle enjoys spending time with friends and family at the lake and other outdoor activities such as rollerblading and hiking. She has been to state multiple times for tennis.
After graduation, she will continue her education and basketball career at the University of Minnesota Crookston.
Halle was crowned Miss Crookston, and her platform was to encourage people to achieve their goals no matter the setbacks, stay positive and determined, and that all things are part of a greater plan. She was also crowned 2023 Homecoming Queen by her classmates.

Emma Gunderson –
Emma’s parents are Grant and Gina Gunderson, and she has two siblings, Gunnar and Evelyn. She plays percussion in band and is also involved in Student Council and Leo Club. Emma plays tennis, basketball, and track. She also teaches Sunday School at St. Paul’s Lutheran. She has helped out with Meals on Wheels and Treats for the Summit. Emma coaches Park and Rec tennis in the summer and enjoys hanging out with friends, going to the lake, and traveling. Emma is part of the Crookston Girls Tennis Team that won Section 8A and made it to state in 2023. She has also been to state as an individual with her doubles partner, Halle Winjum.
After graduation, she plans to attend college somewhere and major in architecture.
