GRAND FORKS POLICE AND FBI TRACK DOWN MAN WITH 2 FEDERAL WARRANTS AND 5 G.F. COUNTY WARRANTS

On Monday, July 22 at approximately 4:34PM, members of the Grand Forks Police Department along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were searching for a Ft. Totten man in the area of 1923 12th Avenue North.

They were looking for Collin Posey, 32 years old, who had two Federal warrants and five Grand Forks County warrants. They observed Posey walking, who then jumped in through the open window of a nearby apartment. The female tenant of the apartment exited and stated that Posey had entered without her permission. The officers were able to surround the apartment building until additional officers were able to assist.

Posey was believed to be armed and dangerous, and he was refusing to leave the apartment, so the Grand Forks Regional SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Unmanned Aerial Systems Team, and Bomb Team were all called out to assist with his apprehension.

Drones and a bomb robot were placed into the apartment, and after a several-hour standoff, the incident was resolved via the use of gradually escalating force tactics in an effort to dislodge Posey from the residence. The SWAT team eventually made entry, and Posey was found hiding within the residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Nobody was injured during the standoff, and Posey was taken to Altru Hospital for routine evaluation following the incident. Posey was arrested on the outstanding warrants, with additional criminal charges likely. There is no ongoing threat to the public as a result of this incident.
