JUVENILE MALE ACCIDENTALLY SHOT IN RURAL FOSSTON

On 08/22/2024 at approximately 1305hrs, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to 35097 420th Ave SE in rural Fosston for a juvenile male (Age 8) that was reported to be accidentally shot in the leg by another juvenile (Age 11). A .22 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene. The juvenile male (Age 8) was transported by ambulance to Fosston and then airlifted to Sanford in Fargo for further medical care which appears to be non-life threatening.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, Fosston Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Essentia Ambulance and Sanford AirMed.

There is no danger to the public. This is an on-going investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
