New Bicycle Repair Station at Highland School to be Dedicated Thursday October 10

There really is a lot going on at Highland Elementary School this week. We chatted with Principal Trostad about being awarded a grant to pay for safety patrol and about the Walk, Bike, and Roll to School day coming up on Thursday, October 10. Principal Trostad also filled us in on a recent Safe Kids Grand Forks donation. “Safe Kids Grand Forks donated a bike repair station, which is actually bolted to the front of Highland School,” says Trostad. “It’s kind of located between the flag pole and the nature center.”

Trostad says they have ordered a sign to put up in the area and hope the kids will utilize the repair station. “Any kids that need to tighten a chain or raise their seat or lower their seat or fix their handlebars, there are a bunch of tools all connected with kind of a metal wire so the tools can’t be taken away or stolen or anything.”

Principal Trostad hopes this encourages more kids to ride their bikes to school. “It’s a bicycle repair station for the students, so really encouraging kids to bring their bikes to school, wall to school, and roll to school.”

Highland Elementary and Safe Kids Grand Forks will have a Dedication Ceremony for the Bicycle Repair Station on Thursday, October 10, at 7:55 a.m.
