Crookston’s Meliyah Moore performs with Concordia College Honors Orchestra

Crookston High School senior Meliyah Moore participated in Concordia College’s Honor String Orchestra camp and concert from October 11 to 13.
Conductors included Concordia Orchestra director Kevin Sütterlin and guest conductor Alexander Fokkens. Meliyah had seen Kevin Sütterlin conduct before and was inspired to attend the camp because of his work. He conducted one piece with the orchestra that Meliyah described as magical and moved her to tears. She also enjoyed working with Dr. Fokkens, appreciating his energy, enthusiasm, and ability to encourage the musicians to play at their very best while having fun.
Meliyah said the music was challenging, along with coming together with a group of strangers to perform a concert in just a few days. She most enjoyed meeting all of the other musicians and said she learned a lot from her honor orchestra peers. Meliyah is a member of the Crookston High School Concert Orchestra and the daughter of Jessica Durham.
