Crookston City Council will meet on Monday, July 7, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Council Chambers.
The Consent Agenda asks the Council to approve the Proposed City Council Minutes from the June 16, 2025, meeting. Also on the consent agenda is the approval of City of Crookston Bills and Disbursements for $373,174.03 and a special event permit for Night to Unite on August 5, 2025. The final items for approval on the consent agenda are donations from the Crookston Baseball Association. One donation in the amount of $6,000 for scoreboard wrapping at Karn Field, the other for $1,202.35 for a sign at Karn Field.
On the regular agenda for the meeting is a resolution authorizing the formal request to relinquish the DEED Redevelopment Grant Funds received from the Red River Valley Shows Building Project. In August of 2024, the City of Crookston applied for the Redevelopment Grant to assist in redeveloping the site. Due to some changes since applying, the City lost the option to purchase the property and must now relinquish the Grant Funds and have the agreement with DEED terminated for the project.
The other item on the agenda is a discussion regarding the at-large vacancy in the City Council. The Council will discuss their options, which include leaving the position vacant until the next term, which starts January 1, 2027, holding a Special Election, which would cost the City of Crookston $15,000-20,000, creating an Advisory Board with the current candidates, Joseph Shostell, Wendy Ault, and Gina Corneillie, creating an Advisory Board and opening the candidate pool, or voting to appoint. The Special Election is the only option that would affect the budget.
