The University of Minnesota Extension’s Growing Local Leadership program is now accepting applicants for the 2025-26 cohort.
As Minnesotans age, they are seeking new leaders to step in and lead. As civic organizations change, they need different kinds of leaders to face the future. Meanwhile, many community members aren’t aware of existing leadership opportunities or haven’t yet been invited to contribute and lead.
Adapted from the Red River Valley Emerging Leaders program, Growing Local Leadership has expanded to meet the evolving needs of our communities in Northwest Minnesota. The program continues to build personal confidence, enhance leadership skills, and strengthen regional connections.
The program kicks off on October 11 at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN. There are five virtual sessions and three in-person sessions total from October 2025 through May 2026.
There is a sliding fee scale for participation.
