Kids at Castle, the Crookston Early Childhood Initiative, and Polk County Public Health are teaming up to host the annual Boo Run Run Costume Run and Family Fun event at Castle Park in Crookston on Monday, October 6, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Kids are invited to wear Halloween costumes, run the trails, and have fun at Castle Park. There will be family activities, a free book, and a pumpkin for every child who attends the event. “We invite families with young children to come to Castle Park. Wear your costume. We encourage families to run and walk the trails. We also have some activities, a free book, and a pumpkin for families to take home. And it’s really fun to see costumes,” said Crookston Early Childhood Director Gina Gunderson. “I work with Leo Club to have them come, and I encourage them to come dressed in a fun costume. And so they’re down in the woods usually hanging out. I think we had one up in a tree one year. The children are looking for these animals, unicorns, princesses, whatever they are in the woods. It’s just been a really fun event.“
There will be different activities for the kids and families to participate in. “Like mud kitchen things, sand toys, and different things that families can do from the shed. We have a storybook walk that goes through the park, and you never know when you’ll see wildlife,” said Gunderson. “And yeah, we were just out there last week and a deer ran through while we were there. So yeah, come on out. “It’s fun for kiddos to wear their costume more than once, have a lot of fun, get outdoors, and enjoy the beautiful Castle Park.”
