Crookston Clay Target team completes 3rd week of competition

The Crookston Pirate Clay Target Team has been busy this fall season.  They have completed three of the five weeks of the competition season.  “The students shooting the Trap discipline are starting to be more consistent with their scores.  This is great because we can start focusing more on micro adjustments in their shooting to increase those scores,” said Coach Randy Prudhomme. “The veteran shooters are also still being really patient with our new shooters by offering suggestions and waiting a few extra seconds for them to get ready.  This can throw them off their rhythm, but they have adapted well so far.  This is also good, so they can go to any tournament and adapt to whoever they get squadded with.”

For Trap, Crookston is fifth in the conference after the third week. Several Pirate shooters are also in the top 25 in the conference individually.

FIVE-STAND SHOOT
The students shooting the Five-stand discipline are having fun, learning a new shooting sport and improving as they go.  “Since this was our first year shooting 5-stand and the first time a majority of the students ever shot five-stand I wasn’t looking into winning the conference this year.  I was looking for them to come out and have fun while trying something new and more challenging than trap,” said Coach Prudhomme. “The start of the season, we really struggled with having two targets flying and hitting them both.  Each week, every one of them is getting better at transitioning from one target to the next and scoring more doubles.  All their scores keep going up, and as a team, our scores are also going up.  So for our first season, I can’t ask for much more than that at this time.”
