Crookston Jr. High students finish 2nd place at the UND Math Track meet

Crookston students showcased their mathematical skills and teamwork at the annual UND Math Track Meet on January 12, competing against schools from across the region. The event, held on the University of North Dakota campus, brings together students in grades 7–12 for a day of problem-solving, collaboration, and friendly competition.

The Math Track Meet is designed to promote a love of mathematics while fostering connections between secondary students, teachers, and UND’s mathematics faculty. Teams from each school work together to solve challenging problems, earning points based on accuracy and speed.

Crookston had an outstanding showing this year, bringing home numerous honorable mentions, a second-place team award for one of the 7th/8th grade teams, and a first-place individual award.

Competing for Crookston were Wendy Chen, Hamsini Chanda, Eva Gosse, Ella Capistran, Jayden Nguyen, Grayson Howland, Grant Moe, Jude Seddon, Harrison Cameron, Jordan Vargas, Chris Goodrich, and Xavier Mason.

Every team demonstrated dedication, perseverance, and strong problem-solving skills throughout the day,” said Coach Andrea Adrian. “All of the participating students represented Crookston with pride, and the community should be proud of their hard work and accomplishments. Congratulations to all who competed!”
