The Crookston Youth Basketball Association 5th-grade girls basketball team won the championship at the Ada Borup West Booster Club Cougar Classic tournament for the third consecutive season.
The Pirates started strong, beating the Grand Forks Sparks 35-15. In the semi-finals, Crookston beat the Fargo Spartans 31-12. In the championship, Crookston beat the Ada-Borup-West Cougars with a big three-pointer and a three-point play to pull away for a 26-18 victory.
Members of the team are Valor Klinnert, Evelyn Applequist, Penny Smith, Ashlyn Goering, Mireyah Magdaleno, Annie Kollin, Freya Brekken, and Lily Griffin. The team is coached by Erik Griffin.
