Yvonne Louisa Berhow, 86, of Fertile, MN, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born on April 4, 1939, to Alphonse and Myrtle (Ehaust) Baatz at their home in Terrebonne
Township, rural Mentor. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor, MN.
She graduated from Mentor High School in 1956 at the age of seventeen. She attended Teachers Training
in Thief River Falls, MN in 1956-1957, graduating with the seniors at Lincoln High School, as teachers
training was a part of the high school then. She taught 3rd and 4th grades in Holt, MN from 1957-1958, then
5th and 6th grades in Brooks, MN from 1958-1960. On July 16, 1960, Yvonne was united in marriage to
Richard Berhow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor, MN. They were blessed with five children:
Ann in September 1961, Joseph in November 1962, Carol in November 1963, Judy in November 1964 and
John in January 1970. She was very busy being a wife, mother and helping on their dairy and grain farm.
After her family was mostly grown, she began working as a Paraprofessional at Fertile-Beltrami School in
1985 and worked there for 22 years. She retired in 2007 but continued to do some substitute teaching. She
was also a volunteer at the Polk County Fair for many years and had many ribbon winning sewing, baking
and canning entries.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, thrifting, seeing friends, sewing clothing, teddy bears,
prayer blankets and many other things, talking on the phone and traveling. She traveled to all fifty states,
Canada, Germany, South America, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Islands and near and far for family
events.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Ann (Jaysen) Nephew, Fertile, Joe (Lisa), Alvarado, MN, Carol
(Bruce) Cameron, East Walpole, MA, Judy Berhow, St Paul, MN, and John Berhow, Fertile; five
grandchildren, Nicole Nugent, Amarillo, TX, Andrew Nephew, Ada, MN, Christopher (Bryana) Cameron,
Savannah, GA, Brian (fiancée Molly) Cameron, Methuen, MA, and Nathan Cameron, East Walpole, MA;
three great grandchildren, Greyson Nugent, Barron Edwards and Alara Cameron; one sister, Agnes Reek,
Iron, MN; and cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents;
one brother, Anthony Baatz; three sisters, Leora Buehrle, Mary McGlynn and Donna Paradis; and devoted
friend, Duane Hanson.

or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fertile.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fertile,
MN.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Monday, March 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fertile, MN,
with a prayer service beginning at 7:00PM, with a rosary to follow.
Interment: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
