HOUSING INCENTIVE RENEWAL
The Crookston City Council unanimously approved the renewal of the City of Crookston Housing Incentive program. The program is for the construction of new, affordable housing within the City of Crookston’s city limits. The incentives include the following –
-Two-year property tax abatement
-Free water and sewer hookup
-Free Two Months Water and Sewer (Within six (6) months of issuance of Certificate of Occupancy.)
-Free Boulevard Trees (limit 2)
-Free Two Months Garbage Service (Includes One Garbage & One Recycling Bins)
-Free Six-Month Family Swimming Pool Pass
-One $150 Parks & Recreation Certificate Per Family

“The current housing incentive program expired at the end of last year. So we made some modifications that are very similar to the past. We had a two-year tax abatement, free garbage service, and a few other perks there if you’re interested in building a house in the city of Crookston,” said Interim City Administrator Darin Selzler. “It passed through council tonight, which is great. So the next steps are we would present that at the upcoming county commissioner board meeting and hopefully get their approval to move forward with that.”
