Crookston Pirate Boys Golf finish 7th at Detroit Lakes Invite

The Crookston Pirate Boys Golf team finished seventh place out of seven teams at the Detroit Lakes Early Bird invitational at Lakeview Golf Course in Detroit Lakes. Fargo Oak Grove had five of the top six individual scores and easily won the invite with a 262 (six over par), 23 strokes better than runner-up Detroit Lakes. It was Detroit Lakes’ second team, as their top team competed in a different tournament.

It was the first time the Pirates had been able to get on a course this spring as Minakwa is still closed. As you would expect with the first round, they had some pretty good holes, and some other holes were obviously the first day they had hit from grass this spring.

Garrett Fisher, a senior, finished 23rd place with a 78. He had two birdies, six pars, eight bogies, one double bogey, and one six-over hole.
Evan Shockman, a senior, finished 27th place with an 82. He recorded five pars, 10 bogies, two double bogies, and a quadruple bogey.
David Dauksavage, a senior, finished 38th place with a 94. He turned in three pars, eight bogies, three double bogies, one triple bogey, two quadruple bogies, and one five-over-par hole.
Collin Trudeau, a sophomore, finished 40th with a 98. He turned in one par, eight bogies, four double bogies, two triple bogies, and three quadruple bogies.
Tony Elbinger, a senior, finished in 41st place, with a 101 in his first competitive round of golf. He turned in one par, three bogies, nine double bogies, four triple bogies, and one quadruple bogey.
