Red Lake County Baseball takes on Barnesville in Karn Classic championship – on KROX

The Red Lake County Rebel Baseball team takes on the Barnesville Trojans in the Jim Karn Classic championship game at Noon today.

FIRST INNING-
Red Lake County’s Will Gieseke started the game with an infield single, Ben Gullingsrud walked, and Kegan Schmitz was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Gunnar Halverson was hit by a pitch to score a run. Denny Lanctot and Cain Cardinal walked to score two more runs. A run scored on a wild pitch before Riley Broden walked. After an out, Boe Nelson singled to score a run. Gieseke reached on a fielder’s choice that allowed another run to score for a 6-0 lead.
Barnesville was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

SECOND INNING-
The first two Red Lake County batters were retired before Denny Lanctot walked and stole second base. Cain Cardinal followed with a single to score a run for a 7-0 lead.
Barnesville was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.

THIRD INNING –
Red Lake County broke the game open a little more in the third inning when Colin Taggart was hit by a pitch, Nelson reached on an error, and Gieseke launched a pitch over the left field fence for a three-run home run, giving Red Lake County a 10-0 lead. Gullingsrud followed with a triple to right-center field and scored on a wild pitch. Kegan Schmitz singled, Lanctot was hit by a pitch, Cardinal and Broden singled, and Taggart reached on a fielder’s choice, and three more runs scored for a 13-0 lead.
Barnesville’s first two batters were retired before Tate Pauna singled. The next batter grounded out and the inning was over.

FOURTH INNING-
The first Red Lake County batter was retired before Isaiah Zenteno singled up the middle. Ivan Delorme then singled up the middle. The next two batters were retired.
Barnesville answered in the bottom of the inning when Brady Field walked and advanced to second base on a balk. Matt Jahr doubled to score a run, and the Trojans trailed 13-1.
