The Fertile-Beltrami Falcon Baseball team hosts the Red Lake County Rebels in a Section 8A matchup at Norland Field in Fertile this afternoon. The game is on KROX Radio.
FIRST INNING-
Red Lake County’s Ben Gullingsrud walked and stole second base before Gunnar Halvorson doubled to score a run for a 1-0 lead.
Fertile-Beltrami’s Bryer Strem singled and stole second base to start the bottom of the inning. Calbe Sather walked, and Steven Sather singled to score a run to tie the game at 1-1.
SECOND INNING-
Red Lake County’s first two batters were retired before Colin Taggart singled. The next Rebel batter was retired.
Fertile-Beltrami’s first batter reached on an error, but was picked off. Kane Oistad walked before the next two batters were retired.
THIRD INNING –
Red Lake County had a big third inning with Will Gieseke leading off with a double. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Gullingsrud sacrifice fly for a 2-1 lead. The next batter was retired for the second out of the inning. Gunnar Halvorson was hit by a pitch, Denny Lanctot walked, and Cain Cardinal was hit by a pitch. Two more runs scored on errors and the Rebels led 4-1.
Fertile-Beltrami was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
FOURTH INNING-
Red Lake County had two outs when Gullingsud blasted a fly ball over the right field fence for a 5-1 lead. Schmitz reached on an error before Halvorson tripled to score a run for a 6-1 lead.
Fertile-Beltrami was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
FIFTH INNING-
Red Lake County’s Riley Broden singled with one out, Taggart singled and Boe Nelson added a single to score a run for a 7-1 lead.
Fertile-Beltrami’s Strem singled with one out and Brady Bjerk reached on an error before Strem scored on a throwing error to get within a 7-2 deficit.
SIXTH INNING
The Red Lake County Rebels broke the game open in the sixth inning while sending 18 to the plate in the inning. It started with a Gullingsrud walk, Schmitz was hit by a pitch, and Halverson reached on an error to load the bases. A run scored on a wild pitch, and Lanctot singled to score two runs for a 10-2 lead. Riley Broden was hit by a pitch and Taggart singled to score two more runs. Nelson and Ivan Delorme singled to score a run apiece for a 14-2 lead. Gullingsrud was hit by a pitch and William Warne singled to knock in a run. After a walk to Austin Lund, a run scored on a wild pitch before Austin Klipping walked. Tre Seeger followed with a double to score two more runs for an 18-2 lead. Kole Kleven singled to knock in another run and the Rebels led 19-2.
Fertile-Beltrami drew a one-out walk before the next two batters were retired and Red Lake County won the game 19-2.
Red Lake County improves to 11-0 on the year. Fertile-Beltrami drops to 3-7 on the year.
