Jennifer Compeau, Democratic candidate for Minnesota House District 1B, is honored to announce that she has received the endorsement of Education Minnesota.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence Education Minnesota has placed in me,” said Compeau. “This endorsement means so much because I know the incredible work our educators, school staff, and support professionals do every single day. They don’t just teach our children. They help shape our communities.”
Compeau’s commitment to public education is rooted in both her personal and professional life. As the parent of children in East Grand Forks Public Schools, a member of the American Indian Education Parent Committee, and a Family Resource Coordinator who works alongside schools and families throughout northwest Minnesota, she has seen firsthand the difference that strong schools and caring educators make.
“My own life is proof that education creates opportunity,” Compeau said. “I graduated high school while six months pregnant with my oldest son. Years later, after overcoming addiction and rebuilding my life in recovery, education became one of the most important tools in helping me find purpose, confidence, and a way to serve others. I earned my associate degree and continue pursuing additional education because learning opened doors I once believed were closed.”
Compeau believes every child deserves access to a high-quality public education regardless of where they live, their family’s income, or the challenges they face outside the classroom.
“Some students walk into school carrying burdens that many people never see. Poverty, trauma, housing instability, mental health struggles, or family challenges should never determine a child’s future. Our schools cannot solve every problem alone, but they deserve partners in the Legislature who understand the realities families face and who will fight to ensure students, educators, and support staff have the resources they need to succeed.”
Her campaign focuses on strengthening public education, supporting educators, addressing student mental health, expanding family supports, and ensuring rural schools receive the funding they need to serve their communities.
“Lived experience has taught me that people grow when someone believes in them,” Compeau said. “That is what our educators do every day. They see potential in students long before those students see it in themselves. I want to bring that same belief in people to the Minnesota House.”
Compeau expressed her appreciation for the educators who have influenced her family and her own journey.
“To every teacher, paraprofessional, counselor, bus driver, custodian, food service worker, administrator, and education support professional who shows up each day for our kids— thank you. I am humbled to have your endorsement, and I will work every day to be a voice for public education and for the families who depend on it.”
Jennifer Compeau is the Democratic candidate for Minnesota House District 1B, representing communities including East Grand Forks, Crookston, Red Lake Falls, and Fosston. A Family Resource Coordinator, parent, and community advocate, she is committed to making Minnesota more affordable, strengthening public education, supporting families, and ensuring rural communities have a strong voice at the Capitol.
