As we get closer to the General Election in November, please remember the following requirements for campaign signs within the City of Crookston.
- Campaign signs must be placed on private property with the property owner’s permission
- Signs may not be placed within a public right-of-way or easement
- Signs may not obstruct motorists’ visibility or interfere with traffic signs or signals
- Signs may not resemble official government or traffic-control signs
- Flashing signs, roof signs, and signs that operate with sound are prohibited
- All signs must be safely installed and properly maintained
- No signs can be placed on city-owned property
Under Minnesota Statute § 211B.045, campaign and other noncommercial signs of any size and in any number may be displayed from June 26 through November 13, 2026. Other City requirements relating to sign placement, construction, and public safety remain in effect.
