Medicare Advantage customers through Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medica are losing coverage across the state, causing issues for area residents

Nearly 392,000 Minnesotans could lose their current Medicare Advantage plan next year as insurers reduce or discontinue coverage. State officials say 15 Minnesota counties will have no Medicare Advantage options in 2027, while three counties will also lose Medicare Cost plans. Original Medicare will remain available. Medicare Open Enrollment runs through December 7th. Officials urge beneficiaries to review their coverage, including doctor networks, prescription drug costs, and premiums, and choose a new plan if needed.

BCBS and Medicare’s decision also affects customers in Polk, Red Lake, and Norman County.  The change forced RiverView Health to take quick action. RiverView reached an agreement to participate as an in-network provider with Sanford Health Plan’s Align Medicare Advantage plans.

If you are Medicare-eligible and have been affected by changes in the Medicare Advantage plan offerings, you have options to maintain access to RiverView providers and services.

You should contact Longtin Insurance (phone # 218-281-1970) as soon as possible to go over your options, as spaces are limited and will likely fill quickly.
