The Section 8A Individual Girls Tennis tournament started Friday morning at Choice Fitness in Grand Forks, and six Pirates are competing for a trip to the state tournament.
Competing for Crookston in singles are Lauren Tull and Katie Seaver, and the doubles teams of Kaylin Bedard and Emma Capistran, along with Nora Groven and Briget Groven.
SINGLES –
Lauren Tull (#2 seed) beat #14 seed Emma Wright (Roseau) 6-0, 6-0, and will take on #7 seed Hattie Truax (Parkers Prairie) in the quarterfinals this afternoon.
Katie Seaver (#13 seed) lost to #3 seed Tegan Pray (TRF) 6-0, 6-0 and was eliminated.
DOUBLES –
Kaylin Bedard and Emma Capistran (#9 seed) beat #8 seed Chloe Phillippy and Kendra Leeseberg (WDC) 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. They will play #1 seed Olivia Schuster/Kaitlyn Jahn (TRF) in the quarterfinals.
Nora Groven and Brigit Groven (#13 seed) lost to #3 seed Natalie Hanson and Sarah Kroll of Staples-Motley 6-1, 6-0 and were eliminated.
