The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s soccer team failed to score for the fourth straight match as the Wayne State Wildcats won 2-0 in an NSIC match played at the UMC Soccer Field.
Wayne State’s Sophia Ketchmark (Sr., La Vista, NE) opened the scoring with a goal in the 18th minute, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Kiya Gere (Soph., Vancouver, WA) had a chance to drive home an equalizer, but her shot off an incoming free-kick was stopped by Wayne State goalkeeper Rachel Grisham (Sr., Columbus, NE). Ketchmark gave Wayne State a late insurance goal from the spot 82:13 into the match securing the 2-0 Wildcats’ victory.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-12 overall and 0-10 in NSIC play. The Golden Eagles return to the pitch on Friday when UMC travels to Aberdeen, South Dakota to play Northern State at 3:00 P.M. Wayne State improves to 6-5-4 overall and 6-4-2 in conference play.
