A. Marvin Olson, 
age 86, of Fertile, MN, died Friday, January 18, 2019, at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.
He was born on the family farm east of Fertile on January 2, 1933, the 3rd of 4 children born to Arthur and Clara (Rude). After graduating from Fertile High School in 1951, he began farming with his father, and later took over the dairy and grain operation, which he did his entire working life, retiring at the age of 72. He was united in marriage to Eleanor (Harstad) March 30, 1958 at Faaberg Lutheran Church in Rindal.
Marvin was an avid sports fan, played baseball and basketball in his youth and played on the Fertile community softball team for many years. He was a member of the Monday night bowling league in Twin Valley for decades, traveling to local and national tournaments with his teammates. At the age of 50, he learned to golf and developed a passion for the game. He participated in several golf leagues at the Sand Hill River Golf Course in Fertile for many years. He also loved music, especially hearing his children and grandchildren sing.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor, four daughters; Mary (Nick) Maynard of Fargo, ND, Kristi (Ray) Sitki of Springfield, IL, Lori (Steve) Morrell, and Rachel (Richard) Lei of Chicago, IL: one son; Andrew of Fargo, ND: 8 grandchildren: Joseph (Richelle), Andrea, Jordan, Jonathan, Claire, Eleanor, Callen, and Roman; siblings Harold of Fertile, Floyd (Ruby) of Winger, and Verna (Ernie) Olson of Moose Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral: 11:00AM, Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5:00-7:00PM with a prayer service at 6:30 at the church.
Burial: Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery, Rindal, MN.
