A TOUGH DETROIT LAKES TEAM SWIMS PAST CROOKSTON GIRL’S SWIMMING IN DUAL

The Crookston Pirate Girls Swim team took on another top Section 8A team and lost to the Detroit Lakes Lakers 143-30 in a dual at the Crookston Community Pool.  

Detroit Lakes won all 13 events in the dual.  Even though Crookston didn’t win a race, they had a lot of good performances where they cut time.  Claire Oman had one of the most significant time cuts in the 200 IM with a time of 3:13.09 after cutting over 12 seconds off her time. “Claire had a fantastic 200 IM,” said Coach Melbye. “She was looking great and showing the versatility of her four strokes.”
Victoria Proulx swam her fastest 50 freestyle while cutting just shy of a second off her time. “Victoria looked good in the 50 free,” said Coach Melbye. “She swam faster than she has ever gone in this pool.”
Chloe Boll cut almost six seconds off her 100 freestyle and seven-second cut in the 400 freestyle. “Chloe continues to improve,” said Coach Melbye. “She continues to look good in her races.”
Mackenzie Aamoth cut two seconds off her 100 breaststroke. “Mackenzie had a great race,” said Coach Melbye. “She is a leader and continues to work hard, and she had a good day today.”

The Pirates have been working hard in practice and have had a tough week with two outstanding teams.  “We are kicking it up in practice and work a little harder to get some more yardage in to build endurance, and the girls have kicked it in gear,” said Coach Melbye. “On Tuesday, we struggled, but today was a different story.  They found their groove, and I am happy with how the girls continue to get better.”

Crookston will travel to Warroad to take on the North (Warroad/Roseau/BGMR) in a dual on Tuesday.
