The Ada A’s dominated the Crookston Reds 14-2 in the Championship game of the Region 10C Tournament hosted at Jim Karn Field in Crookston.
Ada wasted little time setting the tone for this championship game. In the bottom of the first inning, Blake Fetting singled to score Brett Fetting giving the A’s a 1-0 lead. Josh Casavan hit a double to plate Blake Fetting doubling Ada’s lead. Braiden Fetting was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Dillon Lundin connected on a bases-clearing double pushing the A’s lead to 5-0. Ada added four more runs in the second inning. A passed ball scored Matt Pietsch from third base before an error by the catcher plated Blake Fetting. Dillon Lundin came through with another run-plating double bringing two more A’s home while expanding Ada’s lead to 9-0. The A’s continued to pour it on in the third inning when Ethan Opsahl went deep for a three-run home run giving Ada a 12-0 lead after three innings. Crookston scraped their first run across in the fourth inning. Aaron Hollcraft was hit by a pitch followed by a walk issued to Matt Morin putting runners on first and second base before Blake Kawlewski singled plating Hollcraft and cutting the deficit to 12-1. The Reds added one more run in the sixth inning when Rob Silvers hit a single to score Lars Brevik cutting the Reds’ deficit down to 12-2. Ada took two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning on an infield error and wild pitch before closing things down in the seventh and final inning of the run-rule 14-2 win.
The Reds drop to 23-18 and both teams will now wait to learn their game times, dates and the locations (New Prague, Shakopee, Jordan) of their opening round State tournament games which will be announced Sunday morning.
