ADA-BORUP-WEST COMES FROM BEHIND TO BEAT WEST MARSHALL BASEBALL

The Ada-Borup-West Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the West Marshall Fusion 7-6 in the Section 8A Baseball tournament at Bemidji State University.

FIRST INNING
West Marshall led off the game when Will McGlynn reached on an error, but the next three batters were retired.
Ada-Borup-West started the inning with a Cameron Spaeth double. Brennen Fetting had a sacrifice bunt which was followed by an Austin McCraven sacrifice fly to score Spaeth for a 1-0 lead.

SECOND INNING
West Marshall only sent four batters to the plate and didn’t score.
Ada-Borup-West was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.

THIRD INNING
West Marshall started the third inning with their first hit of the game when Dylan Widner singled. Will McGlynn followed with a walk before Jackson Kekke tied the game with a hit, but the throw to first base was off the mark and Widner scored on the error to tie the game at 1-1. The next two batters were retired when Carsen Safranski was hit by a pitch and Jackson Woinarowicz singled up the middle to score two runs for a 3-1 lead.
Ada-Borup-West responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Spaeth singled and scored and Austin McCraven reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on an Odden hit to tie the game at 3-3.

FOURTH INNING
Nick Winge led off the inning with a double and he scored on an error when McGlynn reached. Oberg singled to score another run for a 5-3 lead.
Ada-Borup-West answered in the bottom of the inning when Ames Fassino and Casper Kritzberger singled. One run scored on a wild pitch and another run scored on a Brennen Fetting triple to tie the game at 5-5.

FIFTH INNING
West Marshall led off the fifth inning with a Safranski single, but the next three batters were retired.
Ada-Borup-West was retired in 1-2-3 fashion and the game was still tied at 5-5.

SIXTH INNING
Wet Marshall started the inning with a McGlynn single, stolen base, and he advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Oberg sacrifice fly for a 6-5 lead.
Ada-Borup-West had bases loaded with one out when they hit a fly ball to right field for an out and the Fusion fielder, Aiden Anderson threw a strike to home plate to get the out and a double play to get out of the jam.

SEVENTH INNING
West Marshall started off the inning as Safranski was hit by a pitch. The next two batters were retired before Winge and Widner walked to load the bases. McGlynn hit a ground ball to the second baseman and the Cougars got the out at second base to get out of the inning.
Ada-Borup-West led off the bottom of the inning with a McCraven single and he later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Lance Kritzberger reached on a fielder’s choice and after a walk, scored on a Cannon Anderson hit to win the game 7-6 and advance in the section tournament.

West Marshall ends the season with a 17-6 record.
Ada-Borup-West advances to the next round of the tournament and will play Fosston for the rights to play in the Section 8A championship on Thursday.
