Allan R. Allrich – OBIT

Allan R. Allrich, 65, Mahnomen, MN, formerly of Halstad, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Allan was born on October 30, 1958 to Rolland (Mike) Allrich and Alice (Hove) Allrich in Ada, MN. He attended Halstad Public School and graduated in 1977. He found one of his many loves when he met Nancy Hettervig and married her on October 20, 1979 in Hiland Lutheran Church in Cummings, ND. They welcomed one son, Benjamin Lee on February 21, 1980.

Allan truly was a jack of all trades when it came to jobs. He had knowledge in so many different aspects of life and shared that knowledge with so many throughout his years. His career path took him to many different places but there were few that he truly enjoyed. Halstad Cenex was one he enjoyed from the mid 70’s to 1992. There were countless jobs between then, and when he decided with the help of Nancy to start up a lawn spraying company. Allan owned and operated Greenway Lawn and Tree Service from 1993-2015. After many lawns walked, he decided that retirement was the life for him.

In retirement life was good, Allan had 2 grandkids that he got to enjoy immensely, sharing all his wisdom with them. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler, trail rider and all-around outdoorsman. He was the ultimate sausage maker, just ask anyone who has had a homemade Polish of his. Being a supervisor of oil changes or any sort of maintenance on any of the toys out at the lake was right up his alley as well. In his later years into retirement, he bought a Harley Davidson Trike and that became a new passion of his, riding with his two brothers and their wives. He thoroughly enjoyed all the time with his family, especially when his two grandkids came out to the lake, whether it was trying to flip them off tubes on the boat, 4 wheeling with them, trap shooting, or just playing a good game of Monopoly.

He had many words of wisdom, but his grandkids know him best for telling them things like: “Your money does you no good sitting on the table.” “You’re a cheater not me.” “I am pretty sure I missed a turn.” and “Where is my $200?”

Allan is survived by his wife, Nancy, Mahnomen, MN; son, Ben (Jenni), Grand Forks, ND; and two grandchildren, Parker and Kenleigh, both of Grand Forks, ND; two brothers, Raymond (Vicki), Pelican Rapids, MN, and Myron (Hannah), Clitherall, MN; numerus nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Alice; and sister-in-law, Jean.
