Altru Health System announces changes to their Board of Directors.
Kris Compton, who is currently serving as acting Chair of the Board has completed her term and will retire on May 31, 2021. Karen Thingelstad has been elected to serve as the new Chair of the Board, effective April 26, 2021.
Kris Compton has served on Altru’s Board of Directors since 2009, and previously served on the Altru Health Foundation Board from 2007-2009. She is the retired Chief Strategy Officer for Alerus Financial. “Kris’ impact on local healthcare over her 14 years as a board member is beyond measure,” shares Dave Molmen, interim CEO of Altru. “She has skillfully guided the health system through a time of great change in healthcare, positioning us for continued success in serving the region. We wish her all of the best in her retirement and thank her for her significant contributions to Altru.”
Karen Thingelstad is the recently retired Vice President and CFO for Minnkota Power Cooperative. She joined Altru’s Board of Directors in December of 2020 and also serves on the Altru Health Foundation Board, where she completed a year as Chair in 2019. “We are grateful to have Karen’s leadership as our new Chair of the Board,” shares Dave Molmen. “She is deeply committed to the mission of Altru and brings a wealth of knowledge in board governance, strategic leadership and finance. She has extensive experience at the board level, with current involvement including positions with the UND Nistler College of Business and Public Administration advisory council, UND Alumni and Foundation board, and the UND Center of Innovation Student Run Enterprises board. We are thrilled to have her at the helm, guiding the direction of our community-led health system into the future.”
Altru’s Board of Directors is a volunteer board comprised of community members, Altru physicians and Altru’s President and CEO. Additional current board members include; Dan Roline, Mayo Clinic; Laura Block, UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences; Eric Halverson, Black Gold Farms; Keith Okeson, LifeCare Medical Center; Dr. William McKinnon, Altru Physician; Dave Molmen, Altru’s Interim CEO; Dr. Jody Treuer, Altru Physician; and Dr. Steven Weiser, Altru’s President. Upon Kris Compton’s retirement from the board, a search for a replacement will soon begin.
