ALTRU’S TEARS WALK TO REMEMBER, WALK TO SUPPORT HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY

Altru’s TEARS Walk to Remember, Walk to Support will occur at Sertoma Park in Grand Forks from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 19.

TEARS Walk to Remember, Walk to Support raises awareness for suicide prevention and comfort to survivors. Guest speaker Scott Geiselhart will share his story of struggle and survival to help break the stigma. Anyone attending who has lost a loved one to suicide is invited to share pictures of their loved ones during the dedication ceremony.

“TEARS has been such a blessing to me since I lost my son,” said one TEARS support group member. “I know that I am not alone, and that gives me comfort. They are always there for me, day or night, no matter what.”

September is National Suicide Awareness Month. Every 15 minutes, someone ends their own life. Suicide affects families, friends, and neighbors. More importantly, suicide is 100% preventable. “The TEARS group was a godsend for me following the death of my brother,” said another support group member. “It’s a group I never hoped to be a part of, but I am so thankful for them as they are family.”
