AMERICAN CRYSTAL SUGAR COMPANY WRAPS UP A MISERABLE BEET HARVEST

Revised article – (We had the factories were closed and changed the wording to quit taking beets.  Sorry for any confusion!)
American Crystal Sugar company with processing plants in Crookston, East Grand Forks, Moorhead, Drayton (ND), and Hillsboro have quit taking beets as of November 9 due to poor beet conditions as well as high levels of mud and leaves, making them uneconomical to process. The harvest was one of the most difficult for the farmers because of the wet and muddy conditions.

The amount of acres harvested hasn’t been released, but the last total KROX had heard was possibly 60 to 70 percent of the crop was harvested.
